Composers Robert Minden and Carla Hallett combine waterphones, bowed saws, theremin, toy piano, found object percussion and voice in their explorations of musical textures and forms. Acknowledging the legacy of composers such as John Cage, Harry Partch, and Meredith Monk, their compositions combine microtonal nuance with lyrical intimacy. In addition to their four albums, (including a Juno nominee in 1990), the duo have composed in collaboration with poet Daphne Marlatt and continue to score for independent films and CBC Radio Drama. Since 1986 Minden and Hallett have engaged audiences at concert halls across Canada, the United States and the U.K.
